Movies are often rooted with ideas that stem from reality. A dramedy/dark comedy that was released in 2011 depicts a version of the real life murder of Marjorie Nugent which occurred in Carthage, TX in November of 1996. Marjorie was murdered at the hands of her assistant and close companion, Bernie Tiede. A relationship that had, in her last years, brought Marjorie happiness, had also been very lucrative for Bernie. This relationship ends in tragedy and brings into question how the town views two of their residents and whether or not they would excuse murder committed by a beloved member of the community.
