Softy is on a staycation for the next several days. Stepping in for him alongside Dick Fain is Terry Blount. The Mariners didn't have an ideal week facing the Yankees and Red Sox, but they're still in a great spot. Their schedule gets much easier after the All-Star break while Houston's gets much more difficult. They also won't have to hit the East Coast again. Even a couple of last week's games weren't as bad as they looked. The M's are not as bad as their record over the last few games might have you believe. No, they're not as good as the Yankees, Red Sox, or Astros, but they are solidly the 4th best team in the AL. Manny Acta, bench coach for the Mariners agrees that the team looks great. He talks about his expectations over the last couple of weeks, and what he expects from the rest of the season.
