Spreaker Live Show #91 for Nov 23th, 2016

Our Topics This Week:
- Sparking Audience Interactivity and Feedback
- Coming Podcasting Conferences in 2017
- Spreaker Retreat Meeting Happening Next Week in Italy

Show Duration: 52 minutes

Host: Rob Greenlee, Head of Content, Spreaker @robgreenlee - rob(at)spreaker(dotcom)
Co-Host: Alex Exum, Spreaker Host of "The Exum Experience" and the "Spreaker Studio Review" shows at @AlexExum

Main topic this week: “Sparking Audience Interactivity and Feedback”

1. Make sure that your audience has a simple way to send feedback. Even better than that, ensure that they have several ways to contact a podcast host or co-hosts:

-Email
-Voicemails
-Website comments
-Contact/feedback form
-Audio/Mp3 messages - SpeakPipe.com
-Social Media Posts/Comments
-Website chat

If you don’t provide an easy and obvious way for your audience to share their opinions, then you won’t receive very many.

2. Ask for responses

Ask and you will receive. Don’t simply give your feedback information, but ask people to share their opinions, experience, and perspectives.

Use direct questions of your audience and make sure your audience knows that you’re asking to hear from them. Remind your audience how they can respond.

3. Spark interaction

Show topics are never closed after you have shared your opinions. Leave the topics open so they can contribute and then share it in a later episode. Point listeners to certain feedback channels. Encourage interaction in the comments so the conversation is all there and others can participate. Audio contributions are good to.

4. Add your community and always respond to feedback

If you receive feedback, use it and share it! Feedback springboards your content to new expanded topics that can take the topics deeper. The person feels involved in the show and with you the host. Always recognize feedback and contributions as it shows other listeners that it is not a waste of time to contribute.

5. Proper Feedback Response

Feedback isn’t always appropriate to reshare.

-Criticism or critique - Your choice
-Not the subject you wanted to discuss
-Overly praising of show or hosts
-Content you’re no longer discussing

Listener Comments on SLS90: Types of Audio Shows Spreaker Enables

Tamara @ Shelf Addiction
Is there a way to see what podcast shows are native to Spreaker while listening in the Spreaker app?

Dave Kanyan
I do my show 2X a week, unscripted and unedited, and while I'm driving my car during my commute to and from work. I bet there aren't too many or any shows doing THAT!

Linda Irwin
We pre-record because there is a lot of production that goes into our comedy segments and even music shows. We have regularly scheduled times that they air, so we are sort of like audio television.
