“Behind the Mitten” is Michigan’s premiere travel radio show and Podcast, and since 2015 it has published more than 480 episodes. It is co-hosted by veteran journalist John Gonzalez and longtime chef & beer expert Amy Sherman. The show has been recognized by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters as Best in Category.

On this weekend's show we introduce you to two special "made in Michigan" movies that are garnering awards talk this season. Each of these documentaries speak of a Michigan place and time, and we go behind the scenes on this week's show.

Season 5, Episode 3:

• David Siev, director of the movie "Bad Axe" joins us to discuss his very personal take on one town and one family (both his own) during the pandemic.
• Then, Chef Jimmy Hill, director of culinary instruction at Lakeland Correctional Facility, and the subject (let's be clear here, he's the star) of "Coldwater Kitchen", stops by to talk about this documentary that has been four years in the making.
