Season 2021 Episode 16 (25th May)

This week is the phoney war. Hull on a short tunaround. Saints by 8. Everything is fine , happy with the halves and all that usual Woolf spin. Next week is the real test and prize.

What a great saints performance. Solid defence, good attacking moves, full of enthusiasm, some great tries - the womens game is really doing well !! I watched this game live, some standout players ( although all played well) Cunningham, Rudge, Roberts, Hardcastle. Well done girls.

Really enoyed the womans semi final. Great to see a Saints win but not the most important thing. The best balanced and joined up Saints side I have seen take to the field for a while. The combinations within the side were a joy to watch. The right centre/wing combo of Rachael Woosey and Carrie Roberts, Jodie Cunningham with her second rows , Faye Gaskin with her left edge. Individual mentions to Chantelle Crowl and Rebecca Rotheram at full back who were great to watch. They play with plenty of current day structure but they play football. Currently if I was offered tickets to watch Saints 1st team or the womans side an easy choice, the womens team all day long.

With regrads to all games being dull, what do the panel think - with no scrums, the players are spread out across the pitch and with quick defences most moves are stiffled before they start. Will the return of scrums bring back some of the attacking moves and excitement ??

Seriously though, I think we made too many simple errors, which gave them 12 points. Too many dropped balls, soft penalties , missed opportunities etc, We made it hard on ourselves. We could have won that one
