S5 E9 - Still Minding The Beehive - Surviving Sex Crimes, Part 9
PHASE 3 - Surviving Sexual Assault, “Kim”
CW/TW - DISTRESSING CONTENT - detailed accounts of potentially incestuous sexual assault, mentions of alcohol and drug use, mental health and suicidal ideation.
This season is more serialized than it is episodic, and we felt the urgency to raise awareness on all types of sex crimes - starting with Sexual Extortion, or "Sextortion". For today’s episode, we will be opening up phase three by speaking with Kim, pseudonym, who was sexually assaulted twice by her stepfather. While he is no longer alive, the things that he did to her as well as her closest family members will forever haunt her. Kim finally spoke up, which is important because this can be a very important step for her to take in order for healing to start. Please be advised that this episode does go into graphic detail, and will be triggering and very emotional. This might be hard to listen to, but it’s important for her to get her story out there, so that others like herself will feel way less alone. We hope to raise a ton of awareness and warn you that ANYONE can be victimized by any of this. BEE VIGILANT.
