This month, we are joined again by Mrs. Monica Diaz, Executive Director of the Homeless Programs Office, with the Department of Veterans Affairs to reflect on how 2023 impacted Veterans experiencing homelessness and housing instability. Mrs. Diaz talks about the major initiatives VA implemented this year and shares her thoughts on how working as One Team is critical.

Veterans who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness are strongly encouraged to contact the National Call Center for Homeless Veterans at (877) 4AID-VET (877-424-3838) for assistance.

This feels like a cruel joke. I've been waiting months for help in Orlando and so have about 150 others. If you've met your goals, then you need to set higher goals. We're suffering. And the insensitive delivery of this content while so many are suffering is just insult to injury.

So if I tell you, I am going to be homeless I will be able to speak to a Veteran homeless representative, example moving back from what is affordable in Baja but feel more American than Mejicano born in Lincoln Nebraska, American with Mexican descent, I still have ties in San Diego and would like to reconnect again if affordable to live off of S.S. under $10,000 a year.

Thank you for your comment. We know that having VA representation can make a big difference in finding housing. If you’re still in need of housing, will you call us at 877-424-3838? This is our National Call Center for Homeless Veterans. It’s free, confidential, and is staffed 24/7 with trained counselors who can talk with you right now and connect you with your nearest VA for help.

You need active in the field V.A. representation for smooth and final move with manager, to say go out and look for yourself lots of doors closed because manager is not happy with past Veterans

I have tried to get housing so many times, to tell a veteran to go out and look for one without V.A. representation is discouraging, when veteran speaks with manager, manager dislikes because others have messed it up for other veterans, best handled when Homeless representative is there to lock in move same day, show representatation (caseworker), desires to shows manager V.A. is responsible for payment and care of their Veterans and can pay the rent!
