The event allegedly happened in 1941 but only came to light first in the 60's and then gained the attention of hungry ufologists and reality TV producers after a letter surfaced by Charlotte Ann Mann - who claimed that she was told the story of the alleged UFO crash by her grandmother. You be the judge. Believers of this urban legend, which parallels the events of the Roswell Incident of 1947, claim that the Cape Girardeau event was the first UFO crash and not Roswell.
