These chapters are INTENSE AF, Y'ALL.
First of all, we get that shitbag High Priest rolling into town and demanding that Nona be executed and Abbess Glass be thrown out of the church (oh yeah, and that her tongue be split in two). Ugh. The archons whom he has brought with him are meant to vote in favor of his own rulings in a show of support, but things don't go quite as he planned.
Before you know it, Abbess Glass is frying her hand over an open flame, and Nona is getting throwing stars chucked at her. Once their trials are over, the High Priest is relieved of his position by some pretty contemptuous archons. LIFE COMES AT YOU FAST.
