Imam and Chaplain Salahuddin A. Muhammad comes from rich religious traditions on both sides of his family and is a third generation Muslim American. He is married with three children; two girls and one boy. He has a Master degree in Islamic Studies and Christian-Muslim Relations from Hartford Seminary in Hartford, Connecticut. He is a Clinical Chaplain for the Bureau of Prisons. He also is a member of the Association of Muslim Chaplains. As a student of the late Imam Warith Deen Mohammed, he authored the book America’s Imam: Warith Deen Mohammed’s Interpretation of Islam in the Milieu of American Society. The book introduces Imam Mohammed’s comprehensive understanding and application of Islam in the context of the American society. Salahuddin also serves as an Associate Imam at As-Salaam Islamic center of Raleigh, NC.
