As soon as Adolf Hitler came to power in 1933 he began to openly express his antisemite views. His aim was to force Jews to leave country by marking their life in Germany as unpleasant as possible. Jewish shop and business we boycotted, Jews were prevented from using public transport or entering public parks and swimming pools; they were banned from working as civil servants or teachers and Jewish farmers were no long allowed to own land or other property. The Nuremberg Laws of 1935 prohibited Jews from marrying Aryans and deprived them of their citizenship. Rising numbers of Jews escaped from Germany and sought refuge in countries throughout Europe, Palestine, Latin America and even China. Anti-Jewish sentiment culminated in the Kristallnacht program of 1938 when Jewish shops were attacked and destroyed and synagogues were burned down. Many Jews were killed and some (about 20.000) were sent to concentration camp. In the beginning these were used to incarcerate criminals and political opponents of the regime, then with the outbreak of World War II the camps were used to not only for detention but also for extermination-
