Amanda - yes. We backslid for a few years under Chief Alwin Brown, but we're getting better under Chief Bisa French's leadership.

I love this song so much - I've been singing along to it since I was 3 years old. This, and Petula Clark's "Downtown" - both came out in 1966.

He came to Richmond when we had the highest murder rate in the country... true story... we were murder capital. He brokered peace between gangs and deescalted and then reformed to police department and trained them in deescalation rather than use of force. This before it was a "thing" in the country. He was BLM before BLM was BLM.

Seriously... but Chief M is of a caliber so high it's kinda godly. And I say that as a contrarian who loves to poke holes in gods. But he changed EVERYTHING in Richmond, and his changes are still being felt.
