While the 2017 Phillies season certainly hasn't been stellar, we're still looking at and analyzing the IronPigs prospects and rest the farm system. This week, Tom Housenick, Phillies Triple-A and IronPigs beat writer for the Morning Call, joined us to talk about the talent in Lehigh Valley and what we can expect from this crop of players in the future.
But first, on the Brief News & Views segment:
1. A look at the many Sixers moves in free agency over the past week. (6:10)
2. Flyers news and notes, a new goalie and someone had surgery. (20:40)
3. Nick Williams was finally promoted to Philadelphia! (29:35)
4. The Eagles release Dorial Green-Beckham. (34:35)
Our Listener Feedback this week concentrated on one particular issue: rebuilds. We discussed how and why sports teams and organizations vary in terms of their strategic personnel rebuilds. (37:55)
And then what we're throwing down on the Table this week is an in-depth interview with Tom Housenick from the Morning Call. Sitting in the press box night after night, Tom sees how these Lehigh Valley prospects are developing. Throughout the season, he's been able to analyze who is making the strides and players we may see in Philly sooner rather than later. We first got into the pitching at Triple-A with Tom Eshelman and then reliever Edubray Ramos. Also, what's been happening with the sad state of pitching for Jake Thompson. Of course, we then got into a detailed discussion about J.P. Crawford, Dylan Cozens, Jorge Alfaro, and plenty more of the prospects we're keeping our eyes on. It's a great interview Phillies fans won't want to miss! (44:20)
Remember, we'd enjoy hearing from you! Call 610-255-7198 and leave us a message to play on the show about anything Philly sports related.
