Well, it’s that time again. For those of you aren’t familiar with our ideas about MLB Power Rankings, Graham and I firmly believe that trying to power rank teams weekly in baseball is a pointless exercise. It’s a long season and, while every game is important (ask the 4 teams that played a game 163 last season), week to week things don’t change as much in baseball as they do in a sport like football. Because of this, Graham and I sit down at the end of each regular season month and hash out which teams we believe should be at each of the 30 power ranking spots. So, this week on Out of Left Field, Graham and I give you our first-to-worst picks – ranking all 30 teams based on a myriad of factors including current record, strength of schedule, and their ability to beat teams whose win percentage is above .500. Some of the choices are no-brainers, some we had serious discussions about, but we think we got them all where they belong. We here at Out of Left Field would love to hear from you if you think we got it right, got it wrong, or if you want to make the argument that the Marlins actually aren’t the worst team in baseball.

Also, this week, Corey Kluber has a non-displaced fracture in his throwing arm after taking a scorching 102 mile-per-hour comebacker. We discuss the injury, its effect on the Indians’ season, and on the future of the ballclub. LA’s big free agent signing A.J. Pollock had surgery to remove some hardware from his elbow, we discuss the Dodgers and what this means for them and the questions it raises in centerfield. Matt Kemp, recently released from the Reds, could be an option there. Also, George Springer gets fined an undisclosed amount for using what the league has described as a homophobic slur.
