Noviembre 3: Fama sin entendimiento.

Salmos 49:1‭-‬20 RVA2015:
Oigan esto, todos los pueblos; escuchen, todos los habitantes del mundo, tanto la gente común como la gente notable, el rico juntamente con el pobre: Mi boca hablará sabiduría; y el pensamiento de mi corazón, inteligencia. Inclinaré a los proverbios mi oído; expresaré con el arpa mi enigma. ¿Por qué habré de temer en los días de la adversidad cuando me rodee la iniquidad de mis opresores? Los que confían en sus posesiones y se jactan de la abundancia de sus riquezas, ninguno de ellos puede redimir a su hermano ni pagar a Dios por su rescate. La redención de su vida es muy costosa; se ha de abandonar para siempre el intento de vivir eternamente y jamás ver corrupción. Cuando él los mira, los sabios mueren; contempla al necio y al torpe, y ellos perecen y dejan a otros sus riquezas. De los que llaman sus tierras con sus nombres, sus tumbas son sus casas para siempre, y sus moradas de generación en generación. Pero el hombre no permanecerá en sus riquezas; más bien, es semejante a los animales que perecen. Este camino suyo es necedad. No obstante, sus seguidores se complacen en sus dichos. Selah
Como ovejas que fueron apartadas para el Seol, los pastorea la muerte; los rectos se enseñorearán de ellos. Al amanecer se desvanecerá su buen aspecto, y el Seol será su morada. Pero Dios redimirá mi vida del poder del Seol porque me llevará consigo. Selah
No temas cuando alguno se enriquece, cuando aumenta la gloria de su casa. Porque al morir no llevará nada ni descenderá tras él su gloria. Aunque su alma lo bendiga mientras vive, y reconozcan que ella lo prospera, entrará en la generación de sus padres y nunca más verá la luz. El hombre que vive con honores, pero sin entendimiento, es semejante a los animales que perecen.


Me impresionó mucho este salmo porque es semejante a los proverbios o al libro de Eclesiastés; examina la vida del hombre aquí en la tierra.
Los hijos de Coré describieron su intención de escribir acerca de un dilema que tenían en su corazón: ¿Por qué aterrorizarse cuando estuviera rodeado de los malvados con alta posición o de los que confían en sus posesiones?
Por eso comenzaron describiendo al ser humano, en su intención de establecerse con fama, riqueza, honores y monumentos a su nombre.
Describen cómo la persona quiere adquirir poder, riquezas y renombre para sentirse superior a los demás y piensa que ese es el punto más glorioso que un ser humano puede llegar a experimentar.
El gran problema con esto, según los salmistas, es que no existe nada grandioso en la tierra que pueda borrar los pecados del ser humano. No hay dinero ni posición que pueda salvar un alma, ni la de su vecino, ni la de él mismo. ¡Nada de esto le hará ganarse el corazón de Dios y alcanzar la vida eterna!
Este punto es muy importante porque los hijos de Coré sabían que esta vida en la tierra es temporal, que lo que vale realmente es adquirir la bendición y el privilegio de la vida eterna.

Como hogares de pacto, debemos continuamente recordar que el verdadero propósito en la vida es vivir una vida justa y recta, pues existe una gran realidad y es de llegar hacia la eternidad después de que muramos o cuando Jesucristo venga por Su iglesia.
Por eso los salmistas, al final, nos dan palabras de aliento y confianza para que no pongamos nuestra esperanza en aquellos que tienen riquezas, en aquellos que levantan monumentos o quieren dejar terrenos o edificios con el nombre de ellos con el propósito de que su nombre quede inmortalizado aquí en la tierra.
Lo más importante es que nuestros nombres estén escritos en el libro de la vida, en ese libro donde nada ni nadie lo podrá borrar, a excepción de que nosotros renunciemos a seguir caminando en el camino del Señor Jesucristo y que renunciemos a nuestra vida eterna pecando voluntariamente.

Así que seamos inteligentes y busquemos ser inmortales, no con nuestros nombres en una placa o con un monumento nuestro o con un letrero con nuestro apellido sobre un edificio; más bien busquemos ser inmortalizados en la lista celestial de los santos para que cuando el Señor diga tu nombre, puedas decir: "Señor, heme aquí tu siervo fiel".
¡Hagamos tesoros de buenas obras en los cielos para que el banco donde tienes tu cuenta personal allá en los cielos no esté vacía!

¿Dónde quieres ser honrado: aquí en la tierra o en el cielo?

November 3: Fame without understanding.

Psalms 49:1-20:
Hear this, all peoples; give ear, all inhabitants of the world, both low and high, rich and poor together. My mouth shall speak wisdom, and the meditation of my heart shall give understanding. I will incline my ear to a proverb; I will disclose my dark saying on the harp. Why should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity at my heels surrounds me? Those who trust in their wealth and boast in the multitude of their riches, none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him— for the redemption of their souls is costly, and it shall cease forever— that he should continue to live eternally, and not see the Pit. For he sees wise men die; likewise the fool and the senseless person perish, and leave their wealth to others.
Their inner thought is that their houses will last forever, their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names. Nevertheless man, though in honor, does not remain; he is like the beasts that perish. This is the way of those who are foolish, and of their posterity who approve their sayings. Selah
Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall be consumed in the grave, far from their dwelling. But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave, for He shall receive me. Selah
Do not be afraid when one becomes rich, when the glory of his house is increased; for when he dies he shall carry nothing away; his glory shall not descend after him. Though while he lives he blesses himself (for men will praise you when you do well for yourself), he shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light. A man who is in honor, yet does not understand, is like the beasts that perish.


I was very impressed with this psalm because it is similar to proverbs or the book of Ecclesiastes; it examines the life of man here on earth.
The sons of Korah described their intention to write about a dilemma they had in their hearts: Why panic when surrounded by the wicked in high position or those who trust in their possessions?
That is why they began by describing the human being, in his intention to establish himself with fame, wealth, honors and monuments to his name.
They describe how the person wants to acquire power, wealth and renown in order to feel superior to others and think that this is the most glorious point that a human being can experience.
The big problem with this, according to the psalmists, is that there is nothing great on earth that can erase human sins. There is no money or position that can save a soul, neither his neighbor's, nor his own. None of this will make you win the heart of God and reach eternal life!
This point is very important because the sons of Korah knew that this life on the earth is temporary, that what is really worth is acquiring the blessing and privilege of eternal life.

As covenant households, we must continually remember that the true purpose in life is to live a righteous and just life, because there is a great reality and it is to reach into eternity after we die or when Jesus Christ comes for His church.
That is why the psalmists, in the end, give us words of encouragement and confidence so that we don't put our hope in those who have wealth or those who raise monuments or want to leave lands or buildings with their name so that their name be immortalized here on earth.
The most important thing is that our names are written in the book of life, in that book where nothing and no one can erase it, except that we renounce to continue walking in the path of the Lord Jesus Christ and that we renounce our eternal life by sinning voluntarily.

So let's be intelligent and seek to be immortal, not with our names on a plaque or with a monument of ours or with a sign with our last name on a building; rather let us seek to be immortalized in the heavenly list of saints so that when the Lord calls your name, you can say: "Lord, here I am Your faithful servant."
Let's make treasures of good works in heaven so that the bank where you have your personal account there in heaven is not empty!
