This week we go all over the place, but in those travels we end in the land of the American Dream. We start in NY with a nod to Big Daddy Kane's "No Half Steppin'" and begin to make the point that we can no longer "half step" to really make it in life. It takes your best effort just to be "middle class" anymore, and the American Dream can no longer be achieved with a high school diploma and a job at the local factory. Along the way we stop by Philadelphia, PA to discover what it's like "Being White in Philly". Rashad talks about the dying industries of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Detroit, Michigan. We note that with middle class jobs heading for Asia, and entire industries disappearing, it's clear that all of us have to figure out creative ways just to remain middle class in America. With the industrial revolution far behind us, and the Great Recession finally revealing a road to recovery, it's time for us to realize we are living in the midst of the Great Reset (shout out to Richard Florida), and it is now our time to join the creative class.
