Social Media Dehumanizes Society

Millions of videos are uploaded onto the internet everyday whether it be through Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc. Some of the videos are innocent and funny while others actually capture a crime taking place.

These videos show bystander’s filming the crime instead of helping the victim or alerting the police. They film it as if they are so detached that it doesn’t call on them to empathize with the victim enough to help or call the police. Instead they film then quickly upload it onto social media to tally how many likes, hits, or shares it gets.
