The Miami Open is mid way through its quarter finals with Naomi Osaka and Iga Swiatek emerging as possible finals just as Iga is set to be come the World No 1 following the retirement of Ash Barty and at the Australian’s request to be removed from the rankings. Meanwhile former world No. 1 women's tennis player Victoria Azarenka drops out of Miami Open dropped out of the tournament in the second set of losing to the teenager Linda Fruhvirtová who is half her age stating that: 'I shouldn't have gone on the court today’. While Victoria is another athlete to step aside for her mental health, the timing of such an exit will no doubt be discussed for some time to come. Meanwhile England made it to the semi-finals of the Cricket World Cup in New Zealand when they beat Bangladesh. They next play South Africa on March 31. The winner of that game will face Australia who are unbeaten in the tournament and will be tough to beat. In Europe, the Six Nations Rugby kicked off last weekend with an emphatic win by the Red Roses over Scotland. In the US the NCAA Final Four will be played out this weekend in Minneapolis. And at the women’s NCAA swimming and diving champs last week, the young 2020 Olympians dominated. Most notably Alex Walsh (silver medalist in Tokyo Olympics) who won three individual titles as a UVA sophomore (more than her older sister Gretchen).
