Chris & Nancy kick off the first show of the year with a new look and name for the weekly news podcast that we like to call the News Desk since that’s what we are all about heading into Season 4. And we begin with a round up of the winter sports that have been headlining: World Cup two-women bobsled heralded the holidays with a win for the American duo of Elana Meyers Taylor and Lake Kwaza. In alpine skiing the Slovakian slalomist Petra Vlhova won the last two slalom races in Lienz and Zagreb and finished second in the Lienz GS giving her a lead of 140 points in the slalom rankings ahead of American Mikaela Shiffrin who had to miss Lienz when she tested positive to Covid-19. Mikaela was back racing in Zagreb this week finishing runner-up to Petra. We look ahead to the Australian Open Tennis, which runs January 17-30 and share our expectations of the first grand slam of the year.
