NLI

The NCAA manages the daily operations of the NLI program while the Collegiate Commissioners Association (CCA) provides governance oversight of the program. Started in 1964 with seven conferences and eight independent institutions, the program now includes 652 Division I and Division II participating institutions. The NLI is a voluntary program with regard to both institutions and student-athletes. No prospective student-athlete or parent is required to sign the NLI and no institution is required to join the program. The NLI is a binding agreement between a prospective student-athlete and an NLI member institution. A prospective student-athlete agrees to attend the institution full-time for one academic year (two semesters or three quarters). The institution agrees to provide athletics financial aid for one academic year (two semesters or three quarters). The penalty for not fulfilling the NLI agreement: A student-athlete has to serve one year in residence (full-time, two semesters or three quarters) at the next NLI member institution and lose one season of competition in all sports. An important provision of the NLI program is a recruiting prohibition applied after a prospective student-athlete signs the NLI. This prohibition requires member institutions to cease recruitment of a prospective student-athlete once an NLI is signed with another institution. Signing the NLI is voluntary at any and all times. Prospective student-athletes are not required to sign the NLI on the first day of the signing period. Many prospective student-athletes choose to sign their NLI on the first available day to bring an end to the recruiting process. You should note the NLI Provision allows a student 7 days from the date the NLI is issued (or the initial signing date if the NLI is received before that date) to sign and still have it declared valid.

Culture of Success

Organizations are constantly changing. Embracing change allows you to stay in the present as you build the future. Seeing what worked, what didn’t, making adjustments, to continue to strive for a culture of success. A culture of success is about developing new capacities in employees. New leaders keep emerging to grow the organization and supporting this culture of success, while also allowing current leaders to continue to grow and develop in the most strategic ways possible. A culture of success is only one aspect of an organization’s culture. Leadership still has to define the complete culture they want for the organization. Listen to your employees. Seek their input as you define your organization's culture.

ACT vs SAT

Choosing between the ACT and SAT can feel like navigating a maze of options. Both tests aim to gauge your college readiness but do so in distinct ways. Understanding these differences can help you choose the test that best aligns with your academic and career goals, whether you're looking to maximize scholarship opportunities, delve into STEM fields, or find the right fit for your college journey. While the ACT and SAT may seem similar at first glance, there are key distinctions that set them apart. Both tests evaluate your skills in reading, writing, and math. However, the ACT goes a step further by offering an optional essay component that can highlight your writing skills to provide a more well-rounded assessment of your academic abilities. Additionally, the ACT also includes a science section, making it a go-to choice for those interested in STEM fields. The ACT’s emphasis on practical language skills, as opposed to memorizing a long list of complex vocabulary, can make it more relevant for many students. The ACT evaluates your ability to understand language in context, which many students find to be a more natural skill. Another significant difference is that the ACT offers support for English learners on every national test date, adding another layer of accessibility.
