Lacrosse The Nations: A Conduit of Opportunity, Worldwide

This week my guest is Javier Silva (Executive Dir.) of Lacrosse the Nations (LtN), where they show sports are a conduit by which great things can be achieved. LtN is an international nonprofit that brings the sport of lacrosse to underserved communities as a way of instilling structure and life skills while promoting education and health.
LtN began as a simple conversation between Brad Corrigan and Brett Hughes in 2008 about the truest power of sports to bring people together all over the world regardless of age, background, sex, ethnicity, experience or even language. LtN now partners with lacrosse teams, individuals, and organizations to spread our mission and open up people's perspectives to a bigger picture of sport. They use learning and practicing of an unfamiliar sport to create an environment where new lessons can be intentionally taught and practiced, by bringing lacrosse enthusiasts together with communities in need, both are enriched through lacrosse the nations.

Javier took over as LtN’s Executive Director in 2015. He spent two years volunteering as Program Director in Nicaragua before joining as the Director of International Programs and Marketing. Javier, born in Colombia, fell in love with lacrosse on the first lacrosse program at his Stamford, CT high school. He went on to play for four years on the MCLA team at the University of Connecticut. He moved to Sweden to obtain his MSc in International Marketing & Brand Management from Lund University, traveled throughout Scandinavia as a lacrosse player/coach, and later played on the Colombian National Team at the 2014 FIL World Lacrosse Championships.
