Does the Wellington Rugby Football Union's financial situation suggest worse is to come for New Zealand Rugby and other provincial unions around the country? It's Only Sport host Martin Devlin delivers his thoughts on the $970,000 loss the WRFU has registered for 2022 and the union's expectation they will cop 'another six-figure loss' in 2023. As a result Wellington rugby is considering selling its 50 per cent share in the Hurricanes. Devlin suggests there's something that NZR and Kiwi sports journalists are refusing to admit is costing the governing body a lot of money, and is failing to bring in the necessary revenue - women's rugby.
