Dr. Green discusses his research and efforts during the Prince Edward County, Virginia public school closings, which shut black students out of school for 5 years to avoid allowing black children into white schools. Dr. Green won a government grant to research the effect school closures had on black students. He talks about how this incident showed the resilience of the black community, who stepped up and insured continuing education, in spite of whites who fought school integration.
