The Living Full Out show wants to teach you how to manage expectations. Maybe you assumed that you would be promoted at work, and learning the job went to your co-worker upset you. Perhaps you look at yourself and see flaws due to comparing yourself to others. One reason you may feel strong negative emotions is because you put so much pressure on yourself to be successful and perfect. Recognize that how you thought a certain event would unfold or what you believe you should look like could be unrealistic. Take a break from self-criticism and embrace the place you are in now, so that you can enjoy the present and start living full out.

Our first caller, Oreo, asks Nancy for advice on how to mange his time when school gets really busy. Nancy suggests he experiment with particular methods for time management. Listen in to hear that schedules can get overwhelming, so it is key to make sure to leave some room for new opportunities during the day.

Our second caller, Song, is concerned because as a leader of a school group project, she feels like her classmates are not contributing equally. Listen to Nancy give specific tips on how Song can motivate her team, so that they are encouraged to do the best they can, without being intimidated by expectations.

Our inspirational guest, Colleen Werner, is an eating disorder survivor who has struggled with anorexia and orthorexia since her childhood. Colleen was triggered by an unexpected comment that made her insecure and initiated unhealthy eating habits. By ten years old Colleen took it on to herself to begin dieting. Growing up as a dancer, Colleen struggled with expectations and the pressure to be smaller. Tune in to listen to Colleen discuss the reality of relapses as well as provide valuable resources to Nancy, that can support anyone suffering with an eating disorder.

Our third caller, Umar, asks Nancy how to create a more meaningful relationship with a man he is communicating with through social media. Nancy encourages Umar to establish a connection with his Instagram friend through the phone or in person. Tune in to hear Nancy give advice on how Umar can assess whether this person will be a supportive person in his life or an online friend only.

To take back control of your life, limit how it is swayed by expectations. Try considering what serves you, and noticing what causes you harm. Once you evaluate, you can let go of ideas of how you feel life should be. Take this moment to be grateful for all that you have, and allow this thankfulness to replace pressure so you will live full out.
