We humans can be awfully cruel. We place value and judgment on people who don’t fit into the general category of ‘normal.’ We call them names, shame them, make them feel our scorn or simply ignore them as if they’re not important enough for our attention.

Over the years we’ve strived to make amends for our narrow mindedness. If not in a universal sense, more people now than ever show acceptance of those of a difference race, other religion, sexual preference and disability. Sure, there’s more work to be done in these areas, but the long term trajectory has been on the right path.

The one area where people still feel free to throw shame is body size. People whom society deem ‘fat’ are still mocked or made to feel there’s something wrong with them for their inability to fit into a size two dress.

My guest on this episode of Dream Power Radio, Kate Huffman, has been there. As a person who was above standard weight since childhood, she struggled with diet issues for years. After finally accepting herself as she was, she went on a mission to help others heal their distorted self-images. Kate tells us:
•why diets don’t work
•how to deal with body dysmorphia
•tips on how to love your body
•how society keeps endorsing the idea of body shaming

If you’re looking for advice on how to end your struggle with your self-image, you won’t want to miss this illuminating episode of Dream Power Radio.

Kate Huffman is an award-winning actor and playwright and a certified body image coach. She helps people who struggle with diet, exercise and body hatred to rewire their brains towards self-acceptance so they can channel their time, energy and money into living in greater alignment with their life purpose.

Her world-toured one woman show, I'm Too Fat For This Show, tells her story of twenty years of eating disorders, OCD, chronic pain and body dysmorphia. It was the sharing of her story that sent her on her mission to help others who struggle with the unnecessary oppression of body hatred. Website: https://katehuffman.com/
