Josué 5:5-15:
Todos los que habían salido habían sido circuncidados; pero los que habían nacido en el camino, por el desierto, después que salieron de Egipto, no habían sido circuncidados. Porque los hijos de Israel caminaron por el desierto cuarenta años, hasta que murió toda la nación, es decir, los hombres de guerra que salieron de Egipto; pues no habían obedecido la voz del SEÑOR. Por eso el SEÑOR les juró que no los dejaría ver la tierra que él había jurado a sus padres que nos daría: una tierra que fluye leche y miel. Y fue a estos, a los hijos de aquellos, a quienes el SEÑOR había levantado en su lugar, a los que Josué circuncidó. Eran incircuncisos, porque no habían sido circuncidados en el camino. Cuando habían acabado de circuncidar a toda la gente, se quedaron en el campamento en el mismo lugar, hasta que se sanaron.
Entonces el SEÑOR dijo a Josué: “Hoy he quitado de ustedes la afrenta de Egipto”. Por eso se llamó el nombre de aquel lugar Gilgal, hasta el día de hoy.
Los hijos de Israel acamparon en Gilgal y celebraron la Pascua el día catorce del mes primero, al atardecer, en las llanuras de Jericó. Al día siguiente de la Pascua, en ese mismo día, comieron del producto de la tierra, panes sin levadura y espigas tostadas. Y el maná cesó al día siguiente, cuando comenzaron a comer del fruto de la tierra. Los hijos de Israel nunca más tuvieron maná. Más bien, ese año ya comieron del producto de la tierra de Canaán.
Sucedió que estando Josué cerca de Jericó, alzó los ojos y miró; y he aquí que un hombre estaba delante de él, con su espada desenvainada en su mano. Josué, yendo hacia él, le preguntó: —¿Eres de los nuestros o de nuestros enemigos?
Él le respondió: —No. Yo soy el Jefe del Ejército del SEÑOR, que he venido ahora.
Entonces Josué, postrándose en tierra sobre su rostro lo adoró y le preguntó: —¿Qué dice mi Señor a su siervo?
El Jefe del Ejército del SEÑOR respondió a Josué: —Quita las sandalias de tus pies, porque el lugar donde tú estás santo es.
Y Josué lo hizo así.

En este capítulo vemos 3 eventos. Primero, la circuncisión de la nueva generación de israelitas, que por estar deambulando en el desierto sus padres no los circuncidaron. Sus padres rebeldes también fueron negligentes en cumplir el mandato de Dios que estableció entre su pueblo, la señal de la circuncisión como pacto entre Dios y la descendencia de Abraham. Esta señal los diferenciaba de entre todos los pueblos de la tierra.
Segundo, vemos cómo fue esa transición de la provisión de Dios. El maná cesó de caer del cielo porque ahora tenían la bendición de Dios pero en forma de una tierra que era muy fértil.
Y tercero, en el final vemos la manifestación de Dios, mostrándose visible a Josué como lo hizo con Moisés unos 40 años atrás.
En este caso, Josué estaba preparándose para atacar a Jericó, pero humanamente era casi imposible. ¡Ahí llega la revelación del plan divino de Dios y le da una estrategia extraordinaria que, si la seguían al pie de la letra, ellos verían los muros caer! Mañana veremos esta estrategia del general del ejército de Dios.
Todo esto fue posible cuando ellos retomaron su identidad como escogidos de Dios.

Dios es paciente con nosotros pero debemos mirar qué cosas hemos dejado de practicar que nos identifica como pueblo de Dios.
Hoy en día podemos caer en la negligencia por los afanes de la vida y dejar lo que nos ha bendecido.
No olvidemos hacer devocionales, hablar del Señor a los que no lo conocen, congregarnos con nuestro hijos, servir en la congregación activamente, tener un buen comportamiento ante los que nos rodean, etc. No dejemos lo que nos identifica como seguidores de Jesucristo.

Cuando volvamos a vivir como vive un cristiano, vamos a recibir revelaciones de Dios para conquistar y obtener victorias que necesitamos obtener. Sin caer en extremismos ni fanatismos, sí debemos aceptar las diferencias que existen comparados con los que no viven como alguien que ha sido transformado por el Espíritu de Dios. Hoy en día, ya no se sabe quién es y quién no es un cristiano, pues vemos en los medios de comunicación como en las redes sociales a figuras reconocidas del cristianismo diciendo o haciendo cosas que son inmorales e irrespetuosas. No nos dejemos llevar por esos malos ejemplos, más bien vivamos vidas temerosas de Dios.
Como Pablo nos lo enseñó en Romanos 8:13-14: “Porque si viven conforme a la carne, han de morir; pero si por el Espíritu hacen morir las prácticas de la carne, vivirán. Porque todos los que son guiados por el Espíritu de Dios, éstos son hijos de Dios.”

Mientras muchos viven el evangelio como si fuera un club social, nosotros sigamos moviéndonos en el Espíritu de Dios y así poder recibir esas revelaciones de Dios como las recibió Josué, y que la gloria de Dios descienda en nuestras reuniones en la congregación y en el centro de nuestros hogares.

Joshua 5: Resuming the identity in God.

Joshua 5:5-15:
For all the people who came out had been circumcised, but all the people born in the wilderness, on the way as they came out of Egypt, had not been circumcised. For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people who were men of war, who came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they did not obey the voice of the Lord—to whom the Lord swore that He would not show them the land which the Lord had sworn to their fathers that He would give us, “a land flowing with milk and honey.” Then Joshua circumcised their sons whom He raised up in their place; for they were uncircumcised, because they had not been circumcised on the way.
So it was, when they had finished circumcising all the people, that they stayed in their places in the camp till they were healed. Then the Lord said to Joshua, “This day I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you.” Therefore the name of the place is called Gilgal to this day.
Now the children of Israel camped in Gilgal, and kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month at twilight on the plains of Jericho. And they ate of the produce of the land on the day after the Passover, unleavened bread and parched grain, on the very same day. Then the manna ceased on the day after they had eaten the produce of the land; and the children of Israel no longer had manna, but they ate the food of the land of Canaan that year.
And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, a Man stood opposite him with His sword drawn in His hand. And Joshua went to Him and said to Him, “Are You for us or for our adversaries?”
So He said, “No, but as Commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.”
And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped, and said to Him, “What does my Lord say to His servant?”
Then the Commander of the Lord’s army said to Joshua, “Take your sandal off your foot, for the place where you stand is holy.” And Joshua did so.

In this chapter we see 3 events. First, the circumcision of the new generation of Israelites, who because they were wandering in the desert their parents did not circumcise them. Their rebellious parents were also negligent in fulfilling the mandate of God that He established among His people, the sign of circumcision as a covenant between God and the descendants of Abraham. This sign differentiated them from among all the peoples of the earth.
Second, we see what that transition of God's provision was like. The manna stopped falling from heaven because they now had God's blessing but in the form of a land that was very fertile.
And third, in the end we see the manifestation of God, showing Himself visible to Joshua as He did to Moses some 40 years ago.
In this case, Joshua was preparing to attack Jericho, but humanly it was almost impossible. Here comes the revelation of God's divine plan and gives them an extraordinary strategy that, if they followed it to the letter, they would see the walls come down! Tomorrow we will see this strategy of the general of God's army.
All this was possible when they resumed their identity as God's chosen ones.

God is patient with us but we must look at what we have stopped practicing that identifies us as God's people.
Today we can fall into neglect for the cares of life and leave what has blessed us.
Let us not forget to do devotionals, speak of the Lord to those who do not know Him, congregate with our children, actively serve in the congregation, have good behavior before those around us, etc. Let's not leave what identifies us as followers of Jesus Christ.

When we return to live as a Christian lives, we will receive revelations from God to conquer and obtain victories that we need to obtain. Without falling into extremism or fanaticism, we must accept the differences that exist compared to those who do not live as someone who has been transformed by the Spirit of God. Nowadays, it is no longer known who is and who is not a Christian, as we see in the media and social networks recognized figures of Christianity saying or doing things that are immoral and disrespectful. Let us not be carried away by those bad examples, rather let us live God-fearing lives.
As Paul taught us in Romans 8:13-14: "For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”

While many live the gospel as if it were a social club, we continue to move in the Spirit of God and thus be able to receive those revelations from God as Joshua received them, and that the glory of God descends in our meetings in the congregation and in the center of our homes.
