This week’s show discusses the Bank of England, travel consumer rights (and wrongs if they try to put in a false claim for holiday illness), and on-line travel scams to look out for, including why there is no financial protection for people who pay by bank transfer.

The Bank of England plays a major role in everyone's life here in the UK. It determines the Interest Rate, which is very important to savers and borrowers, and it prints paper money.

Which at the moment is very important to vegans.

The Bank has a museum so you can easily find out why the Bank was opened and how it has developed over the centuries.

My first guest is Jennifer Adam, who is the curator at the museum. Jennifer explains the Bank's history, how it became known as the 'Old Lady of Threadneedle Street', as well as what is on show at the museum.

The museum displays and special exhibitions explain the Bank to people of all ages. It is worth a visit, they don’t give out free samples, but you can hold a gold bar.

My second guest is Frank Brehany, consumer director at Holiday Travel Watch. We discuss how travel consumer rights have changed since Holiday Travel Watch started, including how firms are now advertising heavily to find people who got ill while on holiday.

This is turning into the new PPI. It might seem like easy money of you put in a claim. But be careful of you’re trying to pull a fast one. Frank explains why.

We are now in the peak holiday booking season. Travel companies have all their special offers ready for you.

Unfortunately, so are the scam artists.

ABTA has issued a guide to what to look out for when searching for your ideal holiday, including cloned websites and companies without the correct money protection.

You’re also warned not to pay anyone by a bank transfer. But why?

Sally Francis, senior writer, moneysavingexpert.com, explains what the payment is and why you won’t get your money back if you use this payment method.
