God protected Jesus from King Herod’s fury for over two years while he grew in the city of Bethlehem.
Herod did not know the King of the Jews had been born until the wise men inquired, “Where is the child who is born king of the Jewish people? We observed His Star rising in the sky, and we’ve come to bow before him in worship.” (Matthew 2:2) Herod had not seen the King’s Star, nor had the scholars and scribes of Jerusalem.
God had divinely protected the young child, Jesus. And then, at the precise time, the wise men arrive to provide what will be needed for Jesus and His parent to flee to Egypt to live.
