You listening to the Podcast and Blues Show. I’m bringing to you today a topic on James Carr.
You listen to podcast and blues show I am bringing to you today a topic on James Carr after being turned down by stacks records he made his first recordings for Goldwax Records, a small Memphis-based independent record label founded in Memphis, Tennessee iin 1964 by Quinton Claunch and Rudolph V. “Doc” Russell. He released several singles for the label before achieving his first success in 1966, when "You've Got My Mind Messed Up" reached number 7 on the Billboard R&B chart and number 63 on the pop chart. He also released the successful and critically acclaimed album You Got My Mind Messed Up.

James Carr gave us a rhythm and blues soulful sound like Otis Redding except their styles were different.

Otis Redding seemed like an energetic type of singer on stage. He had a more raspy voice and lots of passion.

James Carr had a more emotional vocal style. He had a deep kind of voice and smooth. Both Carr and Reading were great soulful singers in the 1960s.

Carr’s album You Got My Mind Messed up is a great album. There are songs such as Pouring Water on a Drowning Man, Love Attack, Coming Back To Me Baby, I Don't Want To Be Hurt Anymore just to name a few.

James suffered from bipolar disorder for most of his life, but he was dubbed the world's greatest soul singer.
