Before we get started - an update on the AACR Philadelphia Marathon Weekend November 19-20th. I'm in week 3 of training for the 8 k. I'm excited to support the American Association for Cancer Research the first and largest cancer research organization. I know that 88 cents out of every dollar goes to an organization responsible for funding some of the biggest breakthroughs in cancer research. to find out how you can help go to www.aacr.org/runners for research.

We are living in a golden age of children's books written and illustrated by black authors and artists. I speak with the award-winning Carole Boston Weatherford about her latest picture book that highlights the significance of spirituals for a modern age.

Celebrating its 25th year, City Year provides an extraordinary opportunity for young people 18–25-year-old. Corp members work with students in Philadelphia Public Schools and receive a stipend but also leadership training, education grants and a platform for taking their next steps in life.
