Samuel was dedicated to God's service before he was born. He served as a priest, a prophet and a judge; therefore, he had to function in three separate jurisdictions at any given time. As part of his duties, he had to challenge King Saul when Saul overstepped his jurisdictional boundaries. This is a timely word when jurisdictional lines seem to be constantly crossed for the greater good of the community. God's kingdom does not allow for this, and there are harsh consequences coming.
