Giganta, a troll from Iceland, leaves the small Icelandic village where she lived with humans. Disrespected by some humans, she strides off to find the other trolls deep into the mountains. On her way she meets Gustaf, head scout for the Inner Earth Elves. He takes her underground, through lava tunnels to the Elf Village where she encounters Drotti, the Elf Queen, who sends her off on a dangerous mission to save the land.
