As Jarred Kelenic and other theoretical future Mariners All-Stars come off a great weekend, the calls of "Call them up!" get even louder, but there are perfectly reasonable justifications for keeping these guys down for a little longer. We've seen players like Dustin Ackley and Mike Zunino get rushed the Seattle, only to have trouble. Maybe it's not so bad to give guys who didn't have a real minor league season this year, who have never played at AAA, a chance to prove they can excel there. Look at it like a heat check in basketball. Make sure it's for real before putting all the pressure on them at T-Moblie Park. Watching the TBirds' Keltie Jeri-Leon play his last game for the WHL team, and seeing his reaction afterward reinforces just how powerful sports can be for many of us.
