In this recording, Bentinho talks about how addiction is essentially a form of seeking something that we believe we don't have or don't contain. He emphasizes the importance of re-framing addiction by remembering that we are seekers of wholeness, truth, and liberation, and from this context, or remembrance, we can begin to respond to addictive impulses in a healthier way.
When we see and accept ourselves as seekers of truth, instead of as addicts, we change our self-perception from a negative viewpoint to a positive one, thus transforming self-hatred into self-love. As a result of this newfound self-love and clarity, addictive behaviors and impulses fall away, and a new background conviction that one is an ever-expanding seeker of God emerges.
