I agree with you, my apologies to you for the impression left. I was aiming for an inclusive view of the world. I have many acquaintances that deny science and we get along fine. There are subjects that I do not equivocate on. Such as one person one vote, the state not interfering with people's choice whether it be vaccines or women's right to choose, etc. But there are allot of subjects that are up for debate. I appreciate what you are saying here, though so think it's more nuanced than that. If I live a fairly suitable life but weigh 350 pounds, the weight is an issue and should be addressed. Same thing goes for our society, the hard things need to be discussed and not avoided. With that said, you aren't gonna get very far in our personal relationship by calling me a fatass, I know I'm a fatass and just view your pointing it out as an attack. You'd be better off waiting for me to bring up the fact that I need to lose weight and then offer some tips on how to achieve that, if you were truly concerned. That's where the our society goes wrong, we have lots of people that want to launch into subjects that they know are touchy, unsolicited, in an attempt to create tension. It's essentially real life trolling. There is value in discussion of even things we disagree on, but they are only fruitful when they start with the basis that we both understand each other are decent people with no ill intent. But as long as the tribalism is "If you don't agree with X, you are Y", we aren't gonna get anywhere. Everyone that doesn't agree with you isn't the enemy.
