On this episode, I'm joined by special guest Ryan Hoss, founder of the Super Mario Bros. Movie Archive, to discuss the 25th anniversary of Super Mario Bros: The Movie. Released in 1993 just weeks before Jurassic Park gobbled up all comers, the Nintendo video game adaptation (the first video game movie ever!) -- starring Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo as the titular brothers -- didn't make much of a mark at the box office, but nonetheless remains an object of both derision and fascination in equal measure a quarter-century after its debut. Ryan explains why the Mario movie isn't deserving of the negative reputation it's accrued, and also talks about his site's successful efforts to mark the film's anniversary with a feature-packed blu-ray.
