On December 26, 2018, 8-year-old Raylee Browning was rushed to the hospital in Oak Hill, West Virginia in cardiac arrest and pronounced dead shortly after arriving. Her cause of death was found to be a severe septic infection resulting from untreated bronchopneumonia. Over the course of a year-long investigation, police discovered that Raylee had been systematically tortured, singled out for abuse among the home’s four children, one of whom told investigators horrific details of the abuse that would shock even the most seasoned police veterans. The little girl had been punished by being denied food, water, and medical care, at one point becoming desperately thirsty enough that she drank from the toilet. The adults in the home, Raylee’s father, his girlfriend, and the girlfriend’s sister, were arrested almost a year after Raylee’s death and await trial, although all three posted bail and currently walk free among the citizens of West Virginia.Photos related to today's episode can be viewed on Facebook and Instagram.
