Perhaps I need to correct my “slavery” statement from earlier: but what term I should have used would be forced labor. People in the Mediterranean were trading goods and people for many centuries. And you’re right, Dave, slavery was invented the US

Hello to everyone. As long as this doesnt drift you both too far away from your talking points tonight, But as an Australian i would love to see dedicated indigenous seats in state and federal politics voted in by the indigenous tribes of those states and territories to allow indigenous people to have the representation that they deserve and start to make positive change. So they can have a voice and have input into the laws that have been disctating their lives since colinization. I understand that this is no fix but i think it might be a step in the right direction. Do the both of you think in your own opinions that something similar in America, structured better to your own situations would have any sort of impact? (please excuse my grammar)

I just found this and full disclosure - I haven't fully read it. Think I need to deal with it without any distractions. Maybe "read at your own risk".... https://www.measuringworth.com/slavery.php

And let us remember that African slaves were sold by other African tribes to the white people- all races have owned slaves in this world

So if heritage is defined as: a person's unique, inherited sense of family identity: the values, traditions, culture, and artifacts handed down by previous generations. Claiming that the Confederate Treason Flag is their actual “heritage”, it seems they are pretty much embracing the tenets of white supremacy.

This really shows the true agenda after all the so called sincere apologies are over; "The Liberal government’s continued signals that it won’t drop its legal battles against residential school survivors and First Nations children." https://www.thestar.com/politics/federal/2021/06/07/why-does-justin-trudeaus-government-continue-to-fight-indigenous-compensation-claims-in-court-i-cant-make-sense-of-it-top-advocate-says.html

Might be volunteerism due to the fact that a large majority of these "volunteers" are very well off... Might not their motivation be to keep things status quo for their benifit?

Is it too much to ask to have people in charge who were raised to respect nature?? LOL

Woke up @ 4:30am this morning to the smell of drift smoke from a 24,000 acre fire over in the Snake River country about 90 air miles from the house.

Sea stars are a major predator to urchins and they have been in sharp decline. North American Pacific coast experienced a massive Sea Star die-off in 2013/14 due to a mysterious wasting syndrome. The disease, called “sea star wasting syndrome”.

"A recent count found 350 million purple sea urchins on one Oregon reef alone — a more than 10,000% increase since 2014. And in Northern California, 90% of the giant bull kelp forests have been devoured by the urchins, perhaps never to return." -Oct 24, 2019
