Hosts Russ Johns and Liz Lawless will interview Fiction Author David William Wallace about his new book Paradis Rue. The story of a young abandoned woman who makes her way to the exciting world of Montmartre in Paris in the late 1800s during the explosion of the French Impressionist art movement and the vibrant, budding nightclub scene. Josay learns to navigate this dangerous and challenging landscape by risk-taking and using talents she never knew she possessed. Josay Rue became an integral part of the art world and a moving force in the exciting nightclub life of Montmartre at the very beginning of its historical rise, which eventually led to places like the "Moulin Rouge." She and her friends and even her enemies help to make Paris become the envy of every entertainment scene in the world –– and the "City of Lights."
David graduated in 1968 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and was immediately drafted into the Army. He retired from the Army as a Captain. He was awarded the Masters and PhD in Counseling Psychology from North Texas State University. He started as a staff psychologist in Houston and became a Dean of Students at 34 at the University of Houston. Then, he and his family moved to Oakland when he took the Dean of College Affairs at Samuel Merritt College. While continuing to teach, he started a broadcast television and multi-media production facility producing medical content in nursing, psychology, and allied health markets. He received a Telly, a medical Emmy award for a documentary he wrote, produced, and directed on Florence Nightingale.
He eventually left to start his own educational media and consulting company, which was quite successful but was a considerable journey and time drain, so he sold it and retired. He and his wife Cheri moved to Macon, Georgia, to be closer to their son and grandchildren, where they enjoy golf, travel, friends, and family gatherings.
