With Record Store Day (RSD) mere weeks away on April 23rd, we were able to steal some quality time with our friend Carrie Colliton. Carrie is the Co-Founder of Record Store Day, the Director of Marketing for The Department of Record Stores and the Jill of all trades when it comes to organizing and handing the flow of information to stores and the public. The Department of Record Stores is a group of some of the oldest and most beloved independently-owned record shops in the country. Carrie has worked for indie record stores since The Record Exchange in college! We learn about the origins of RSD, the misconceptions, the excitement as well as some falsehoods that surround the annual independent store celebration. The first Record Store Day took place on April 19, 2008 and has continued to support and encourage all indie record stores as well as excite collectors in supporting their community. Now go out and support your local store!

Huge thanks to our label partner for the last couple episodes, Crane City Music. This week we’re featuring Blimes and Gab with the song ‘Baptism’ off their album “Talk About It”. Crane City is an awesome Seattle based hip hop label with the mission to promote local Black voices, in particular those of women and queer artists. They are committed to putting money and opportunity into the community.
