Episode 26 is entitled “Deep State Adopts Biometrics To Determine Your Race And Gender.” In this show, I discuss the introduction of facial recognition and artificial intelligence in retailing that can determine your race and sex. Retailers argue that the use of this technology can help them provide customized services to shoppers. What could go wrong with this technology? The #Deepstate would never use this type of technology to spy on you or track you, right? On June 24, 2020, the New York Times reported that Robert Julian-Borchak Williams became the first African-American to be falsely arrested due to facial recognition technology.

Detroit police officers arrested Williams at his home after an AI-based facial recognition matched his photo with that of a shopper lifter caught on security footage. Basic police work would have shown that Williams could not have committed the crime as he was at work alongside 10-12 other individuals.
