Listened to this just now, a million thoughts: I have a 31 year old daughter who has struggled with an eating disorder for 16 years. Yes, it's an anxiety response but the expression of it arises from "beauty standards". But for indigenous people it's a double whammy to go with traditional markings: the wish or even need to belong to those white standards and the risk to stand up and be seen as emphatically non-white. When I see the markings of your guests, of Mumilaaq and other public figures, I am happy, a bit envious. I see pride and courage and most importantly I see belonging and validation. I am happy to see that; and that happy feeling leads to seeing beauty. You spoke about white peoples not having identity, and I'm glad you did because I was afraid to: the sense of community and belonging and beauty I see in those markings is missing in my life as a white person. I wonder if that informs some of the angry responses you've heard. Aside, I was sad to hear racism is open and strong in Denmark - I had somehow got the impression that Denmark had gotten a lot closer to figure it out that
