Genesis 11 begins with the narrative surrounding the Tower of Babel and ends with the accounting of the descendants of Shem. Abram was from the genealogical line of descendants that were declared righteous including Abel, Seth, Enoch, and Noah. There are 10 generations from Noah to Abram. Abram was living during the time the Tower of Babel was being built. Abram lived in Ur of the Chaldees, which is about 210 miles from Babylon.
