As Indians, we need to shift our mindsets about how we see food and manage diabetes. For starters, we need to stop counting rotis and start with a plate of salad, moving away from carb-focussed meals. In this conversation, diabetologist Dr Rajiv Kovil along with marketer and entrepreneur Dr Ami Shah, co-founders of Zandra Healthcare, talk about changing the narrative around creating healthier lifestyles. Their initiative Rang De Neela, using showbiz puppets such as Singham and Sholay to dispense medical knowledge through a network of highly motivated doctors across urban and rural areas, is one step in this direction. Tune in as they talk about the Indian “thrifty genotype”, making us vulnerable to fat storage and how to take small but effective steps to manage diabetes.
Follow and share to grow the conversation!

Dr Kovil is part of the movement to create a Blue Dot classification for diabetes-friendly foods. In 2019, he was awarded the Fellowship Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh. He is also a founder member of the United Diabetes Forum (UDF) and was awarded the Diabetes India Fellowship, in 2017.

Dr Ami Shah, an engineer by training and marketer by choice, has worked with B2B and B2C companies across different industry sectors in India and Southeast Asia. Shah is a visiting faculty with various B-schools since 2006.
