Dr. William Bronston, author of Public Hostage, Public Ransom: Ending Institutional America, unpacks the firsthand account of the horrors of Willowbrook State School, an institution which began housing the developmentally disabled population in the 1930s; The vulnerable residents were abused, starved, neglected, and the school became a known symbol of the cruel warehousing of developmentally disabled children and adults. Dr. William Bronston joins us to discuss the school as well as the horrific healthcare systems still in place to this day that prove this is not a past issue.
