December 13: He who calms the storm.

Psalm 107:10-33:
Those who sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, bound in affliction and irons— because they rebelled against the words of God, and despised the counsel of the Most High, therefore He brought down their heart with labor; they fell down, and there was none to help. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their chains in pieces. Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He has broken the gates of bronze, and cut the bars of iron in two. Fools, because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, were afflicted. Their soul abhorred all manner of food, and they drew near to the gates of death. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses. He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare His works with rejoicing. Those who go down to the sea in ships, who do business on great waters, they see the works of the Lord, and His wonders in the deep. For He commands and raises the stormy wind, which lifts up the waves of the sea. They mount up to the heavens, they go down again to the depths; their soul melts because of trouble. They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits’ end. Then they cry out to the Lord in their trouble, and He brings them out of their distresses. He calms the storm, so that its waves are still. Then they are glad because they are quiet;
so He guides them to their desired haven. Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! Let them exalt Him also in the assembly of the people, and praise Him in the company of the elders. He turns rivers into a wilderness, and the watersprings into dry ground;


The day you find yourself in difficult circumstances that seem like storms of trouble and affliction, read this psalm. This is a very beautiful psalm. I hope you read it in its entirety so that you are filled with all the promises in this psalm.
You are going to notice a series of adverse situations that the people of Israel suffered in different stages of the history, but after each of these situations the phrase appears: “they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
And He saved them out of their distresses.”
Never forget that you are a child of God, called and chosen to be part of His beloved people!
It may be that your personal life and your home right now resembles that of a ship when it is in the middle of a storm, where the waves want to flood the ship or destroy it with the indomitable force caused by hurricane-force winds. Because for a while you had control of the rudder of your boat but at this moment it has gotten out of control, you no longer have the strength to maneuver your boat.
Remember verse 23 onwards, where it explains that those who sailed on the sea saw the mighty hand of God calming the sea and storms.
Several centuries after this psalm was written, One appeared on the face of the earth that several times He stood in front of the boat and commanded the winds and the waters to calm down.
Jesus Christ is the same God of Israel, and He came to show them that He fully understands what we are experiencing; however, He has the power over those difficult times.

Consider this:
Do you remember the last time you cried out to the Lord and He calmed your storm?

Diciembre 13: Aquel que calma la tempestad.

Salmos 107:10‭-‬33 RVA2015:
Habitaban en tinieblas y en densa oscuridad, aprisionados en la miseria y en cadenas de hierro, porque fueron rebeldes a las palabras del SEÑOR y aborrecieron el consejo del Altísimo. Por eso sometió el corazón de ellos con dura labor; cayeron, y no hubo quien les ayudase. Pero cuando en su angustia clamaron al SEÑOR, él los libró de sus aflicciones. Los sacó de las tinieblas, de la densa oscuridad, y rompió sus cadenas. ¡Den gracias al SEÑOR por su misericordia y por sus maravillas para con los hijos del hombre! Porque rompió las puertas de bronce y desmenuzó los cerrojos de hierro. Fueron afligidos los insensatos a causa de su camino rebelde y a causa de sus maldades. Su alma abominó toda comida, y llegaron hasta las puertas de la muerte. Pero cuando en su angustia clamaron al SEÑOR, él los libró de sus aflicciones. Envió su palabra y los sanó; los libró de su ruina. ¡Den gracias al SEÑOR por su misericordia y por sus maravillas para con los hijos del hombre! Ofrezcan sacrificios de acción de gracias y proclamen sus obras con júbilo. Los que descienden al mar en los barcos y hacen negocios en los océanos, ellos han visto las obras del SEÑOR y sus maravillas en lo profundo del mar. Él habló y desató el viento de la tempestad, e hizo que se elevaran sus olas. Subieron los cielos, descendieron los abismos; su alma se derretía con el daño. Se tambalearon y temblaron como un borracho, y toda su sabiduría se echó a perder. Pero cuando en su angustia clamaron al SEÑOR, él los libró de sus aflicciones. Él trae calma a la tempestad, y se apaciguan sus olas. Entonces se alegran porque ellas se aquietan, y él los guía al puerto que desean. ¡Den gracias al SEÑOR por su misericordia y por sus maravillas para con los hijos del hombre! Exáltenlo en la congregación del pueblo y alábenlo en la reunión de los ancianos. Él convierte los ríos en desierto y las fuentes de aguas en tierra sedienta.


El día en que te encuentres en circunstancias difíciles que parecen tormentas de problemas y aflicciones, lee este salmo. Este es un salmo muy hermoso. Espero que lo leas en su totalidad para que seas lleno de todas las promesas que hay en este salmo.
Vas a notar una serie de situaciones adversas que el pueblo de Israel sufrió en diferentes etapas de la historia, pero después de cada una de esas situaciones aparece la frase: ”pero cuando clamaron a Dios en su angustia, Dios los libró de sus aflicciones".
¡Nunca olvides que tú eres un hijo de Dios, llamado y escogido para ser parte de su pueblo amado!
Puede ser que tu vida personal y la de tu hogar en este momento se parezca a la de un barco cuando está en medio de una tormenta, donde las olas quieren inundar el barco o destruirlo con la fuerza indomable causada por los vientos huracanados. Porque por un tiempo tenías el control del timón de tu barca pero en este momento se te ha salido de control, ya no tienes fuerzas para maniobrar tu embarcación.
Recuerda el verso 23 en adelante, donde explica que los que navegaron en el mar vieron la poderosa mano de Dios calmando el mar y las tormentas.
Varios siglos después de que se escribió este salmo, apareció uno sobre la faz de la tierra que varias veces se paró al frente de la barca y comandó a los vientos y a las aguas que se aquietaran y se calmaran.
Jesucristo es el mismo Dios de Israel, y vino a demostrarles que Él entiende completamente lo que estamos viviendo; sin embargo, Él tiene el poder sobre esos momentos difíciles.

¿Recuerdas la última vez que clamaste al Señor y Él calmó tu tempestad?
