Deuteronomio 2: No seas injusto cuando pases por pruebas.

Deuteronomio significa "segunda ley" en griego, pero no por ser otra ley sino porque se va a explicar una vez más los mandamientos del Señor para la nueva generación.

Deuteronomio 2:1-7:
“Entonces nos volvimos y partimos hacia el desierto, rumbo al mar Rojo, como el SEÑOR me había dicho; y rodeamos por muchos días la región montañosa de Seír. Y el SEÑOR me habló diciendo: ‘Bastante tiempo han rodeado estos montes; diríjanse hacia el norte. Manda al pueblo diciendo: Cuando ustedes pasen por el territorio de sus hermanos, los hijos de Esaú que habitan en Seír, ellos tendrán miedo de ustedes. Pero guárdense mucho; no contiendan con ellos. Yo no les daré de su tierra ni aun la huella de la planta de un pie, porque he dado a Esaú como posesión la región montañosa de Seír. Les comprarán con dinero los alimentos que coman. También, adquirirán de ellos con dinero el agua que beban’. El SEÑOR tu Dios te ha bendecido en toda la obra de tus manos. Él conoce tu caminar por este gran desierto. El SEÑOR tu Dios ha estado contigo estos cuarenta años, y ninguna cosa te ha faltado.

Este capítulo continúa con la historia de Moisés relatando a la nueva generación; contándoles el evento cuando sus padres se negaron a entrar a la tierra y Dios los tuvo deambulando por el desierto. Allí Dios comenzó a usar a la primera generación para conquistar nuevas tierras, trayendo juicio a otras naciones que Dios había decidido eliminar por su maldad.

Pero, en esta campaña militar, Dios les advirtió de que no atacaran a los descendientes de Esaú, el hermano de Jacob, ni a los descendientes de Lot, sobrino de Abraham. Estos eran parientes de ellos que no debían invadir ni hacerles daño.
Dios les enseñó a que no hicieran injusticias contra ellos, solamente debían cruzar por sus territorios y debían hacerlo en paz y sin abusar de ellos.

Esto nos enseña a que hoy en día Dios está mirando la forma en que convivimos con nuestro prójimo. Ellos son también hijos de Dios, especialmente aquellos que son creyentes, los que llamamos hermanos en la fe. Aunque nosotros estemos pasando por desiertos como el pueblo de Israel; pasando por necesidades, problemas y pruebas; esto no nos da el derecho de bajar la guardia, hay que seguir viviendo con rectitud, con justicia y compasión.
Cuando no estamos pasando por desiertos, se nos hace más fácil vivir una vida ejemplar para otros, ayudando al prójimo y sirviendo a Dios en diferentes ministerios.
Pero cuando estamos pasando por desiertos y dificultades, tenemos la tendencia de encerrarnos en nosotros mismos tratando de lidiar con circunstancias difíciles y nos enfocamos en luchar contra las adversidades, olvidando en el proceso lo que significa "es mejor dar que recibir" o "amar al prójimo como a ti mismo". El espíritu del buen samaritano se va disolviendo en nuestro corazón y nos convertimos en aquel levita que estaba tan ocupado que no ayudó al hombre tirado en el camino.
Recordemos el consejo del apóstol Pedro en 1 Pedro 2:12: “Tengan una conducta ejemplar entre los gentiles, para que en lo que ellos los calumnian como a malhechores, al ver las buenas obras de ustedes, glorifiquen a Dios en el día de la visitación.”

Cuidemos, pues, nuestra manera de vivir bajo cualquier circunstancia, no importando la situación que estamos viviendo porque Dios está mirando nuestras actitudes, si somos justos o injustos con los miembros de nuestro hogar, de nuestro lugar de trabajo o nuestra congregación, con los demás.
No olvidemos el consejo del apóstol Pablo en Romanos 12:16-18: “Unánimes entre vosotros; no altivos, sino asociándoos con los humildes. No seáis sabios en vuestra propia opinión. No paguéis a nadie mal por mal; procurad lo bueno delante de todos los hombres. Si es posible, en cuanto dependa de vosotros, estad en paz con todos los hombres.” (Versión: RVR1960).

Deuteronomy 2: Do not be unfair when you go through trials.

Deuteronomy means "second law" in Greek, but not because it is another law but because it is going to explain once again the commandments of the Lord for the new generation.

Deuteronomy 2:1-7:
“Then we turned and journeyed into the wilderness of the Way of the Red Sea, as the Lord spoke to me, and we skirted Mount Seir for many days.
“And the Lord spoke to me, saying: ‘You have skirted this mountain long enough; turn northward. And command the people, saying, “You are about to pass through the territory of your brethren, the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir; and they will be afraid of you. Therefore watch yourselves carefully. Do not meddle with them, for I will not give you any of their land, no, not so much as one footstep, because I have given Mount Seir to Esau as a possession. You shall buy food from them with money, that you may eat; and you shall also buy water from them with money, that you may drink.
“For the Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your hand. He knows your trudging through this great wilderness. These forty years the Lord your God has been with you; you have lacked nothing.” ’

This chapter continues with the story of Moses recounting to the new generation; telling them of the event when their parents refused to enter the land and God had them wandering in the desert. There God began to use the first generation to conquer new lands, bringing judgment to other nations that God had decided to eliminate for their wickedness.

But, in this military campaign, God warned them not to attack the descendants of Esau, Jacob's brother, or the descendants of Lot, Abraham's nephew. These were their relatives who were not to invade or harm them.
God taught them not to do injustice against them, they should only cross through their territories and they should do so in peace and without abusing them.

This teaches us that today God is looking at the way we live with our neighbor. They are also children of God, especially those who are believers, those we call brothers and sisters in faith. Although we are going through deserts like the people of Israel; going through needs, problems and trials; this does not give us the right to lower our guard, we must continue living with righteousness, with justice and compassion.
When we are not going through deserts, it is easier for us to live an exemplary life for others, helping others and serving God in different ministries.
But when we are going through deserts and difficulties, we have a tendency to close ourselves off trying to deal with difficult circumstances and we focus on fighting against adversity, forgetting in the process what it means "it is better to give than to receive" or "to love the neighbor as yourself." The spirit of the good Samaritan dissolves in our hearts and we become like that Levite who was so busy that he did not help the man lying on the road.
Let us remember the advice of the apostle Peter in 1 Peter 2:12: "...having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.”

Let us therefore take care of our way of living under any circumstance, regardless of the situation we are experiencing because God is looking at our attitudes, if we are fair or unfair with the members of our home, from our workplace or our congregation, with others.
Let us not forget the advice of the apostle Paul in Romans 12:16-18: “Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion. Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.”
