They are all open source, which means, I think nobody has rights to the OS, therefore you cannot violate any copyright laws

I still remember working with our property mgnt software (Yardi) when it was DOS based! Then it switched to Windows.

I gave only used MS Access a little. I could use the wizard. That was about it.
