E P: exactly. I think it would have been entirely appropriate for Glenn to get Utu and Irene together on the phone to discuss the impact of what he was doing, perhaps had a panel discussion, whatever. But to invite him only to uninvite him when they already knew what he had written was a bad event decision. And the rest of it was even worse.

I agree. Truth is always the more powerful weapon.

Irene, Beverley, Cholla, and other found out that emotional violins don't mean a thing to me. I am far more interested in facts than feelings. Truth matters.

If they want to complain that white people shouldn't be talking about Harriet Tubman, I disagree, but fine. They have a right to their opinion. But this became an attempt to utterly destroy Utu's life to the very foundation, Pantheacon put out an official statement with no reason for Utu's dismissal but said that they were trying to make a "safe" environment by not having him there, not only implying that Utu is dangerous but, with no reason, you know peoples' minds are going to go right to rapist or pedophile or whatnot. He was called a homophobe on at least one thread featuring Irene, Beverley, Cholla, and Jamie. He received phone calls threatening both his and his mother's life. So of course Irene is going on about doxxing because ONE random person got into it with her and posted an aeral view of her house. NOT cool mind you, but this is ONE person. There was a lot more than ONE person on their side doxxing, threatening, and other crap. These people are hypocrites and liars.

Mind you, I'm not blaming Irene for this. I think she was a jerk for being so petty as to attack Utu because only one of her workshops were accepted instead of two, but the responsibility lies where it has always been ... with Glenn Turner. Period. Full Stop.

If there's anything you can take to the bank, it's that I often save receipts.

You can see in the screen capture I shared that the "Toppling the Tower" workshop was NOT accepted. Here is receipt number two, where Irene is complaining about Utu's class in a comment to her post about "Toppling the Tower" not being accepted. https://www.dropbox.com/s/4fjvr3w487gguyg/irenereceipts2.png?dl=0

Michael, Marta: here are the receipts! This is Irene talking about her Virgo Homo Thugs workshop being cancelled. https://www.dropbox.com/s/fzenoi08oaaehbv/irenereceipts.png?dl=0

She was not on there before. I will dig up the post where her workshop for the Homo Thugs was rejected. To be clear, Irene's SOLO workshop was always on there. However, her other workshop with her group, The Virgo Homo Thugs for the Revolution, titled "Toppling the Tower: The Nu Foundation" was not accepted. She had a now-private post on Facebook, which I should have screen captured in a private message with Utu at least, that I should be able to dig up. She complained and Beverly, Cholla, and a number of others jumped right in. Once they convinced Jamie Morgan/Lori Buschbaum to uninvite Utu, the "Toppling the Tower" workshop was back on the bill.

Lisa - absolutely. I'm disgusted with him. I was disgusted with him before because he lied to me several times and threw me under the bus with our HexFest invite only to decide he wanted to come back once he realized Maxine was going to be there. Sorry but no. I don't expect anyone to kiss my ass. I would rather they just bring their A Game to what I invite them to do. But don't kick my ass either and expect a reward for it.

Cholla Soledad, Irene McCalphin (whose workshop was rejected, complained that Utu's was there, and then got him deplatformed and her workshop replaced his) , and Beverley Smith are hypocrites and selectively apply their social justice ire while defending virulent anti-semitism. But they aren't the demons in this story. Glenn Turner of Pantheacon is. Glenn NEVER should have allowed them, or program coordinator Jamie Morgan/Lori Buschbaum to allow this crap to happen to begin with. Glenn is 1000% responsible for allowing this viciousness to define her event and it's poisoned the well of Pantheacon. It's not something I would ever sink to attend. The best part of all of this to me was that Irene and Beverley got their buddies David R. Shorey and Tommie Starchild to fan the flames against Utu. I often warn people, you never know how a wildfire will take shape. I bet Dutiful David and Truckle Tommie never dreamed that their precious Orion would actually take far more heat than even Utu did when they first brought their palm fronds to Irene, Cholla, and Beverley's fire. Did I enjoy this little twist? Oh, absolutely. One of the fundamentals of magic is, be careful what you wish for.

Christian day. I know it wasn't a curse, I just think he walked right into a wall with that phrase. Considering how quickly some are willing to jump on any off sounding note, he put a target on his back in the name of poetic license.

Well, I can SORT of see how people would take it as a curse. Personally, I think it was a stupid interpretation but perhaps it's because people don't know him. He was not cursing black people. He was, however, being tone deaf and stupid and stradding the fence like a cheap hooker straddles a street lamp.

Lisa/Jillian: I understand what Orion was saying with "diversity demon" and it wasn't a curse, but I can see how people would have taken it that way, but that's the whole problem: poetry is a dangerous way to handle conflict like that because people CAN take it different ways. I know Orion was not, in his mind, cursing black people. His husband is black. My issue with him is not that. It's that he's playing all sides. If you want to do that, do it behind the scenes. Don't do it so everyone can see you doing it. LOL
