The Bryan city council has taken the first step towards a public-private partnership at the new superpark.

A special meeting was held last week where there was a unanimous vote to approve a $214,000 dollar contract with a Houston area developer.

Mayor Andrew Nelson says construction on the first phase could start in the next six months.

Money to pay the developer and to prepare the former municipal golf course are not included of this year's city's budget.

Nelson says the council's choice of Stonehedge Holdings was in part due to their involvement in Texas A&M's new hotel and conference center and a project in north Bryan.

Nelson also says about 20 acres of the former municipal golf course is proposed to be turned into a golf and entertainment center.
